I Had a Dream
I had a dream last night that our family had one of the TLC network reality shows--like "Little People, Big World" or "19 and Counting"--but I only got to see part of the intro to our premier episode on TV because I was at work at the factory I owned and we don't have TiVo.

Let Us Continually Come

Hebrews 4:16 – So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. (New Living Translation)
The footnote in my NLT Study Bible says that the phrase “let us come” can also be translated as “let us continually come,” indicating ongoing action, not just a onetime event. This is a real encouragement: God knows we will continue to sin, perhaps repeatedly and willfully. He also knows that he will continue to show mercy to us. I can’t imagine how hopeless I’d feel if his mercy was offered just once and that if I screwed up again, I couldn’t go to “the mercy well” again. What a gift. Now I just need to remember to come to his throne.

Jeannette's Fourth Son
Jeannette wanted to see a photo of her new son . . .

This is Kevin. He's new at LCU this term. He is very bad news. Okay, not really. We've been hanging out together a fair amount. He's eating me out of house and home. Seriously, I'm glad he's at LCU . . . he brings good things to campus.
The first time we met, Kevin was joking around, asking why white people always give each other nicknames like Champ or Sport. So now I try to call him "Sport" whenever possible. He tells me that "Palmer" is the whitest name possible. I tell him that "Kevin" is even whiter.

I Already Thought They Were Super
I got an e-mail from Phillip today and opened to find this photo staring back at me:
I IM'd him to ask what it was and he told me that this is homecoming week at Blackhawk Christian School and today was "Super Hero Day." Okay. That only helps a little. What super hero was he supposed to be? Well, it turns out he was dressed as Hawk. Who? Hawk is, I guess, the lead character in a web comic Phillip likes. He sent me a link that led me to this picture:
Apparently, if I understood Phillip right, "Hawk is a geek who thinks he's like Batman, but he's not."
Jameson also dressed up as a super hero. It appears that the defintion of super hero has clearly broadened quite a bit over the years. Whatever happened to Superman, Wonder Woman and Underdog? Anyway, Phillip explained to me that Jameson dressed up as Link, who is a Nintendo video game character. Oooookaay . . .
A Special Delivery to Ohio
Last weekend, while I was sequestered in Illinois, MelodyJoy and Jeannette took a trip to Ohio. Their mission was to deliver Jordan's girlfriend, Hillary, to Cedarville University so that she could go to his ROTC banquet with him. It's the first time that she has been to visit him.

Upon her return to Fort Wayne, Jeannette put the following on her Facebook page: "MelodyJoy and I went to see Jordan at Cederville College to take his girl friend Hillary up to go to his ROTC banquet w/ him. We had fun, but MelodyJoy did get a little bent out of shape when she realized that Jordan was more excited to see Hillary than her. Having another girl take your high princess status is a hard pill to swallow for a girl of four, but the fact that she adores Hillary helped."

there is a friend
I'm stuck in Lincoln this weekend. Yes, it's Valentine's Day and, on top of that, the kids had a four-day weekend off from school. It's mostly my own fault as I'm the idiot who agreed to schedule a campus visit event to start tomorrow night.
My good buddy from high school and the best man at my wed
ding, Jeff Parish, came up from Charleston and we ran around Bloomington today to help distract me. We did a little shopping, ate lunch at Qdoba and scouted around the city in case either or both of us end up living there someday.
It's been about 33 years since Jeff and I first became close friends, starting around our junior year of high school. It's been over 25 years since we've gotten to spend lots of time together, but it still doesn't take any time at all for us to be right on the same page after all this time.
Proverbs 18:24: ". . . there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."

Melody's Able to Put This Puzzle Together Now . . .
Movin' On Up
MelodyJoy is four years old now and until this week has still been sleeping in her crib-slash-toddler-bed even though she is almost as long as its mattress. Many nights recently, she has ended up in the guest room on the "big bed" and she's been asking for a new bed for quite awhile now, so this weekend Jeannette started playing musical beds in our house. She stole Jameson's bed and moved it into Melody's room and bought some new bedding for it.

This didn't turn out so well for Jameson, of course . . .
Seriously, no, he is not sleeping on the floor. Instead, Jeannette moved Phillip's bed up to Jameson's room. Which means Phillip is now sleeping on Jordan's bed--there's only a top bunk in their room now--and this, I guess, leaves Jordan out in the cold. When he's home, he'll get the guest room or can sleep on a cot in his room. At least until we find another mattress somewhere.

I Had a Dream

I had a dream last night. I came across Jimmy Carter's daughter Amy as she was campaigning for a US Senate seat. How I knew she was Amy Carter, since she's all grown up now, I don't know. After she finished filming her TV commercial, we walked across the grassy park in the rain holding hands.
Where do these dreams come from? Incomprehensible.
