Flying Ivy

Today's field trip was to the aviation mechanics program at Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne. We had a great meeting with Bill Terhune and he gave Jordan some good advice on how to evaluate some of his options for preparing for a career in aviation, especially related to missions aviation. We were pretty impressed with what he showed us in the program, enough so that we cancelled our appointment at IPFW afterwards, because Jordan is pretty sure that an aviation mechanics program is the direction he wants to try.

The Ivy Tech program is less expensive than the other two schools we're looking at but takes longer to finish. Nothing's ever simple, is it?

Is Jordan done at CU? Or is this for next year? Looks like what my brother did--got his A&P locally, and worked on his pilot's licenses at the same time.

For next year. He's certainly finishing up this year at Cedarville but we're not sure it makes sense for him to return. Nothing's decided for sure at this point.

I understand. We're thinking that Jeremiah would be better in a--now I can't think of the exact name--mechanical engineering technologies kind of program. It has a bit less math and chemistry and more application. He's also looking at Criminal Justice, which we don't see as a great fit, but doable.
