The Christmas Program

On Saturday, Blackhawk Preschool put on its big Christmas production. It was quite the show, with every child in costume (including one shepherd wearing a very historically accurate turtleneck shirt and and black trousers). MelodyJoy played the role of Lead Sheep. Okay, she was just a regular sheep . . .
We were plagued with technical difficulties when it came to photographing the play. The memory card filled up and so I was deleting pictures and videos right in the midst of it all. In addition, our camera doesn't do well at a distance in poor light so even though we were sitting in the very front row, we didn't get very many good pictures and, furthermore, most of the time when Melody was on stage, she was obscured behind other kids. How's this kid supposed to get discovered if everyone else is standing in her way?! Anyway, this is the best shot I got of MelodyJoy in inaction . . .

Mary and Joseph . . . the play was not faithful to scripture, however. Every children's Bible I've ever seen clearly shows that Mary was riding sidesaddle when they came into Bethlehem . . .

The heavenly host . . . I think there was some gender profiling going on here. Why aren't there any boy angels??

Is she grabbing her head in shock at something she just saw on stage? Playing charades and giving a clue for "reindeer?" No, Jeannette is directing her portion of the program and I believe this is the signal to do the hand motions for "crown."

The three kings toss their frankincense, gold and myrrh at the feet of Jesus . . .

This was the only decent photo we got the whole afternoon, and I think Melody's classmate Emi took it at the reception afterwards . . .
