After a night in Rochester, Minnesota, next to the Mayo Clinic, we headed to Janesville, Wisconsin, last Sunday to spend a couple of days with Jeannette's dad and his wife, Debbie. Our first evening there, the kids had fun chasing down fireflies in the backyard.

Looks like you guys are having so much fun! How is MelodyJoy doing with the traveling part? I think Jenna would go nuts in the car for that long! (Unless we had an endless supply of books...she loves books...or some sort of video system set up in the car whereby she could watch her beloved "Curious George" or "Elmo" videos! :-) Thinking of you guys and praying for your safety, Love, Sandi, one of your faithful readers
It sounds like you've been having a good time on your trip east--making lots of memories. Mount Rushmore has certainly changed since I was there (1973, I think)! Well, not the Mount, but all the other tourist stuff! I remember everytime we traveled between CO and IN, we'd see this sign for "World's largest tractor seat" and various other oddities, and we never took time to stop. Finally, one trip, dad agreed to stop there. And it was gone. So, enjoy doing all the cool fun stuff (even if it is dorky)while you can. Too soon and the kids will be gone!
Or more likely, we had our noses stuck in books while the beautiful scenery passed by. Speaking of...was it you or Todd that got in trouble in chapel one day for sticking a news magazine in your Bible and reading it during the message? I can distinctly remember Mr. Koch saying, "Meet me in my office after chapel." It really seems like it was you!
As we drove through the Badlands, Natalie, I did think several times that it would be interesting to spend some extended time visiting each little tourist attraction throughout the area, from Wall Drug to Sturgis to just strolling around the many statues in Rapid City, and so on.
As for reading a magazine tucked inside a Bible, that is definitely something I would have done but I think in this case it must have been someone else. I don't recall ever getting called into the principal's office.
