Lizard, Lizard

Okay, Phillip tried his hand at poetry last week. Today, our 5th grader, Jameson, had to write a poem for his class. He broke new ground . . . a creative writing project that was not about turtles.

A Poem
by Jameson Muntz

Lizard, lizard! Climbing so high
Along walls that never lean
How can you hang upside-down
From ceilings that are so high?

Lizard, lizard! How do you change your color
To match your surroundings
How can you turn invisisble
And be unseen to snake and eagle eyes?

Lizard, lizard! Why do you lose your tail
So you can buy some time?
Does it hurt,
Or do you not really notice it at all?

Lizard, lizard! Climbing so high
Eating flies
As they buzz by
How do they taste? Should I try?

Hey, your sons are poets! This is great! After being stung by a scorpion I went on line to try to find out what kind stung me. I still don't know, but I did find that geckos can eat scorpions without being stung and on the rare occasion that they are stung the poison doesn't seem to affect them. Isn't that interesting. So I guess I won't complain about the geckos running around in my house!
